About De Meye Wine Estate
This boutique wine estate is named after the De Meye River in Holland, the birthplace of the first Myburgh who first settled in South Africa in 1665. The current owners Jan and Philip Myburgh are the fifth and six generation to farm this estate. 50ha of their estate is under vine and the plantings include: Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc.
Red wine makes up 80% of produce whilst white wine and rosé makes up 20%. All grapes are hand-picked and 220 tons are kept for De Meye usage whilst surrounding wineries purchase the rest. As a boutique winery, De Meye produces 18 000 cases and offer two ranges; their premium label, De Meye and their more affordable wine, Little River.
For a ‘Sunday lunch with friends' atmosphere, no menu, no wine list and a lazy day of scrumptious food and lazing beneath the oak trees, visit The Table at De Meye. There is s set menu which is brought out to tables on platters for all to share. Some food includes chilli chicken liver salad with organic greens and tempura nasturtium flowers, fillet of beef in a red wine, with baby potatoes, beans followed by pear and hazelnut cake. Book in advance and come prepared to indulge in De Meye's wine and enjoy the estate.
