Tucked away amongst the rolling hills of the Botrivier valley, Gabriëlskloof is one of the newer additions to the area. Taking their wines seriously, yet describing themselves as laid-back, the team at Gabriëlskloof has adopted the same sentiment at their restaurant.

With a ‘slow food' approach to the menu, owners Frans Groenewald and Juan van der Westhuizen prefer to choose fresh ingredients, sourced as close to home as possible. Taking their inspiration from seasonal availability, the menu changes regularly as ideas arrive spontaneously, but a no-fuss and delicious homemade meal is always the outcome. That being said, you can expect some pretty sophisticated delights on the menu, including perfectly prepared steak; parma ham and fig salad; carpaccio; slow-cooked lamb pie or the unforgettable springbok shank with tagliatelle and vegetables.

The calamari and chourizo starter and stuffed quail on a mushroom risotto sound mind-blowing. A separate deli menu features more relaxed food, such as burgers and Panini's, and children are well catered for, making this a wonderful venue for the whole family. Wine-tastings can be enjoyed by the warmth of a log fire in Winter, or in a cool and relaxed space in Summer. Fireplaces and comfortable couches create an ambience of relaxation – perfect for the colder months.

With its ‘new Cape Country' aesthetic, sweeping views of the valley, classy wines and delicious food, Gabriëlskloof is an elegant venue, which will delight any visitor to the Botrivier and Caledon area.
