About Glen Oaks 4x4 Trail
This is a trail with a bit of a difference, you're not just driving the trail for pleasures sake, you will in fact be contributing to a good cause. The Glen Oaks 4x4 Trail is on a working farm (livestock and fruit), the proceeds from using the trail go towards the removal of alien vegetation, so it's a great addition to a fun day out.
The trail is located approximately 17km outside of the town of Caledon and the route, although only 8km, will take between 3 and 7 hours to complete. The trail isn't an easy one and has a 3 to 4 difficulty grading. You may notice that the trail is often used as an obstacle course, but thanks to the gorgeous setting you'll enjoy getting a bit stuck. A 5km trail through fynbis offers you an easy ride, but be aware of the natural obstacles you may need to get through, such as sand, stone, mud and water.
The colour coded obstacles, coloured according to difficulty, will allow you to skip out ones you may feel are too challenging due to your ability and experience.
You'll need extra vigilance when crossing the vlei, whilst snake alley and the final descent will also prove challenging. If you take on any of the deeply rutted mud tracks you must ensure you have recovery gear with you.
