It is simply not enough to call Inspired Creations a showroom. Rather, it is a treasure chest, an oasis, a little gem in the heart of the Overberg region. Located in an authentic old waenhuis (the Afrikaans word for barn) on the Doornboom Farm just outside Heidelberg, Inspired Creations is brimming with beautiful hand-crafted furniture and accessories for yourself or for friends back home that would appreciate a real piece of South Africa.

This barn is, essentially, a showroom that has the gorgeous creations of SOON (Something Out Of Nothing) Furniture. Inspired Creations, run by Pierre and Sally, focuses on custom-made furniture; which includes benches, book cases, cupboards, side tables, coffee tables, bedside tables, and much more. In addition, Sally makes a range of ornaments and accessories using previously loved, used, or discarded materials. These goodies include wooden hearts, cushions made from flour sacks, and uniquely cute bird houses.

Pierre has travelled throughout the continent of Africa, and always has delightfully exciting stories to tell visitors to Inspired, while Sally is happy to make a hot cuppa for travellers and enjoy a chat with them. This warm hospitality, coupled with all of the things to view and purchase inside the barn, makes Inspired Creations a popular stop for those travelling along the Garden Route. The rolling green lawns and the little lambs that meander around the property add to the appeal of this attraction in quite special ways, for young and not-so-young alike.

Cape Town is less than 280 kilometres away, while Knysna, George and Plett are about the same distance away, but in the opposite direction.
