About Linton Park Wines
Linton Park cellar can be found on Slangrivier (Snake River) farm. The farm was first granted to French Huguenot Louis Fourie in 1699 and gets its name from the stream which snakes down from the Groenberg Mountain slopes on the farm. Louis was the man who first planted vineyards on the farm and created wine.
The Cape Dutch homestead on Slangrivier dates back to 1809. In 1995 the homestead was completely restored including the addition of Voortrekker furniture found in Graff Reinet. Linton vineyards grow on the slopes of the Groenberg where the soil is rich, the rainfall higher and it's cool enough for the vineyards to rest well before spring's growth time.
The noble cultivars of Cabernet Sauvignon, Ruby Cabernet, Shiraz, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are planted in the Oakleaf soils of the 294 hectare farm. Once the ownership changed, new modern equipment was added to the cellar and the entire space rebuilt.
The Linton Park Cellar produces our Linton Park Reserve, Linton Park, Louis Fourie 1699 and the Rhino of Linton Park Ranges. Hennie Hukisson is the winemaker who comes with experience from Nederburg and Chatea Margaux. Rebuilt and you'll have him to thank once you've sampled their fine wines.
