About Mooiuitsig Wineries
“A tract of rugged, undeveloped land” were a few of the initial words used to describe the stunning estate and legacy that is now Mooiuitsig Winery. The challenge had been laid out from the day Nicolaas Jonker purchased the land, the original farm suffered from a lack of water.
Thankfully after the completion in 1923 of the Brandvlei Dam the irrigation problems were over and The Robertson Valley came into its own shortly thereafter with the unbridled help of people such as Nicolaas Jonker and his aspiring eldest son – Adolph senior. The valley was found to be so well adapted to the production of world-class berries that vineyards expanded quickly and the demand for larger and better equipped cellars rose equally quickly. Adolph's dream of marketing his very own wines under his own label came in 1947 when Mooiuitsig Wineries Ltd. was established.
Perhaps Adolph's signature statement embodies the drive and success behind the estate: “Over the years we have crafted our wine making skills into becoming an art form. We strongly believe that the success of our product lies in the consistent production of high-quality grapes.”
To view more wine estates in the region see Robertson Wine Estates or see South Africa Wine Estates for a general overview and links to other wine producing regions.
