Meerendal Wine Estate has the grace and elegance of the authentic Dutch style because it has been perched in this beautiful part of the Western Cape for some 300 years. Its history and charm permeate every aspect of the wine estate, and the best way to enjoy this allure is by exploring the gorgeous terrain around the vineyards.

For a small donation, there are a number of mountain biking tracks at Meerendal. After an initial uphill, they are flat and fairly easy to tackle. Then, cyclists will reach a series of little uphills and zig-zags that will challenge the newbies and delight those that are a little more experienced. Still, the breath-taking views make all the slog and sweat worthwhile.

Although there is no formal fee, R30 is requested for adults and R10 for children under 12 as a contribution. This will be used to maintain the tracks and facilities and to ensure a beautiful, fun ride for everyone that visits Meerendal.

The KnipeRacing shop caters to the needs of cyclists and stocks a wide range of accessories, mountain bikes, and so on. Bikes can also be hired directly from KnipeRacing for the convenience of visitors that are not travelling around Cape Town with their own bicycles.

The Meerendal Wine Estate is situated in Durbanville, about 30 to 40 minutes from Cape Town. This estate produces excellent merlot, pinotage, sauvignon blanc, and shiraz. These wines make for the ideal reward for an energetic cycle through the Western Cape terrain; the perfect way to end off a day of activity in stunning South Africa.
