About Oldenburg Vineyards
Adrian Vanderspuy purchased Oldenburg Vineyards in 2003 which was originally a working fruit farm and with whom his grandmothers both had past connections to. Right at the end of a gravel road off the beaten track of Helshoogte Pass, Oldenburg is worth finding.
It once consisted of Rondekop and Ivy Know before Helmut Hohman joined the two farms and renamed it Oldenburg. The farm underwent a replanting process and fell under the helm of the winemaker of the moment, Simon Thompson.
The focus of this winery is on quality over quantity which has reaped many awards since the first vintage was sold in 2010. Both the 2011 Chenin Blanc and 2009 Cabernet Franc were included in Top 100 South African Wines list. 4 star Platter ratings have also been bestowed on their 2009 and 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon as well as an IWC Gold rating for their 2010 Chenin Blanc.
When visiting the estate, relax in the tasting room with its un-interrupted views of the vineyards which was designed by well-known architect Simon Beerstecher. Sample a Dalewood Fromage cheese platter along with their affordable wines such as Chenin Blanc 2011, Chardonnay 2010, Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Cabernet Franc 2009 or Syrah 2009.
