The Oranjezicht City Farm (OZCF) has long been hosting the weekly Market Day on Saturdays. However, it has recently moved to Granger Bay for the winter, right in the heart of the Western Cape's capital city, Cape Town.

The OZCF Market Day is fun for locals and tourists, young and old. It offers fresh, organic goodies that have been grown at the beautiful OZCF, which is a non-profit farm in the middle of the City Bowl. This initiative has as its core the commitment to providing locals with fresh, healthy food, to look after the environment (particularly undeveloped land in urban centres) and to educate those who visit it. The quality of the goods produced here and the success of the project are both testified to at the fun Market Day, which is held every Saturday from 09h00 to 14h00, rain or shine.

Fresh fruit and vegetables are popular at the market, as are the free-range eggs, fresh bread, organic dairy (cheeses, yoghurts, and more), honey, muesli and scrumptious cooked dishes. There are also edible plants, compost and other gardening tools to equip locals to start their own alternative feeding programmes. Farmers and artisanal food producers from in and around Cape Town are invited to showcase their products here, giving them the opportunity to meet local and international visitors and share experiences.

There are talks and presentations that are linked to the Market Day (although not conducted every week) as well as crafts, stories and planting lessons for little ones.

Tables and chairs are scattered around the market for those wanting to enjoy their delicious buys or who simply love watching the world go by. There is free Wi-Fi for anyone wanting to get some online work done or who love to Instagram and Tweet their fun experiences, of which the Oranjezicht Market Day will certainly be one.
