The Pepper Tree Restaurant is situated at Highgate, which is the oldest working ostrich show farm in the world. Tables are perched under the ancient Peruvian pepper tree, and the vistas of the Klein Karoo make for an idyllic backdrop. The menu offers tasty breakfasts, irresistible lunches and a variety of options for the children. Breakfasts include kippers on a parmesan potato puree, smoked salmon tart on rocket chiffonade, a range of omelettes and the firm favourite of bacon and eggs. Other dishes include toasted sandwiches and tramezzinis, ostrich steak, an ostrich burger with an avocado mousse, mango and coriander chicken fillet, a classic beef burger, and a range of innovative salads. Desserts change, depending on what is freshly baked, but are sure to tempt even the strictest of dieters.

The special Africa Arabica coffee keeps caffeine-hunters coming back for more. Local Karoo wines showcase the produce of nearby vineyards, with their characteristic flavours and unique nuances. Diners can also settle down to an ice-cold craft beer for the ultimate in refreshment.

Pepper Tree Restaurant has a beautiful lawn, as well as a play area for the children. There are donkey cart rides for kids as well, which are always a hit.
