Piekenierskloof Wine Company is nestled in the beauty of the Olifants River Valley, where the Cederberg Mountains tumble in a rocky display of their sheer scale and rugged beauty. It is here, where the black eagle and the jackal buzzard soar overhead and the calls of the baboons echo against the craggy faces, that the Piekenierskloof wines can be savoured.

The wine company is located just outside the little town of Citrusdal, and is renowned for its excellent range of wines. The Granache and Chenin Blanc varieties are firm favourites, coming from old vines and boasting delectable noses and flavours. The sandstone and shale soils, very hot days and very cold nights make this area unique. The landscape can be harsh, reserved for the hardy among us. But, these are the ideal conditions (together with the altitude) to yield some of the most delicious wines that South Africa and the Western Cape have to offer. They are produced from vines that do not make use of irrigation systems, but that grow naturally in this tough terrain.

The wine hosts at Piekenierskloof are knowledgeable and experienced; ready to share their insights and expertise with those visiting the estate and enjoying a wine tasting. Piekenierskloof Wine Company is partnered with Fairtrade-certified grape farmers and the wines produced are both fairtrade and non-fairtrade. They can be enjoyed locally, and are also exported internationally for folk to enjoy around the world.

Citrusdal is about two hours from Cape Town, making it great for a day trip or to spend a few nights before heading back to the hustle and bustle of the Mother City.
