About Piket-Bo-Berg Farmers Market
The Piketberg Mountains promise really breath-taking backdrops to many of the West Coast accommodation options, as well as to the charming Piket-Bo-Berg Farmers' Market that is nestled just below them. This market is all about celebrating the delicious flavours of the fresh produce of this area, while enjoying chats with the friendly folk that call this home.
The farms in this area are renowned for their delicious pears, peaches, apples, plums and citrus fruits. And it is the juicy sweetness of these that is a favourite amongst so many of the market's visitors. But, plenty of other tasty treats are on offer too. These include homemade indulgences like vetkoek and pancakes, quince jelly, farm butter, banana bread, biltong, quiches and cakes.
There are also stalls that sell books, olive products (including delectable olive oil), warm roosterbrood (a South African bread that is dense, moist, and baked on the fire), green tea kombucha, and beautifully crafted wooden games and items for the home. The local animal outreach organisation has a stall here too; where pre-loved clothing, toys, books, blankets, pet food and more is more than welcome. They then sell these items to raise funds for needy animals.
The friendly locals make everyone feel welcome, while the live music keeps the awesome vibe going. This is a gorgeous way to spend the day with family and friends on the West Coast. The vendors at the market trade using cash only, so don't forget to draw money before visiting.
The Piket-Bo-Berg Market is hosted by the Kruistementvlei Farm in Piketberg. This is located just over an hour from Langebaan and 1.5 hours from Cape Town.
