About Pulpit Rock Winery
In 1918 Grandpa Brink was offered a job as winemaker of Groot Constantia which he declined as wasn't the right time and the family longed to make their own wine. His son, Ernst, was one of the largest pig farmers in the Western Cape and owner of agricultural farms in Nambia.
But in 2003, the dream became a reality and his sons returned with Cellar Technology Diploma and a B.Comm in hand and soon began working in the winery. This family affair on the farm is also aided by the talented Koos van der Merwe who plays the role of viticulturalist. Pulpit Rock gets its name from the piece of craggy background of this terrain known as ‘pulpit'. You'll find the estate on the slopes of the Kasteelberg Mountain where their impressive maturation cellars have capacities of 1000 tonnes.
450 hectares are under vine and cultivars include Pinotage, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Mouverde and Petit Verdot. All grapes are harvest from two farms owned by the Brink family. Their wines are exported to many corners of the earth and their flagship range is Pulpit Rock Range of Pulpit Rock Chardonnay 2006, Pulpit Rock Pinotage 2005/6, Pulpit Rock Merlot 2004, Pulpit Rock Shiraz 2004 / 2005 and Pulpit Rock Cabernet Sauvignon 2004.
