Ridge Riders Sandboarding in Cape Town offers extreme adventure and adrenaline pumping fun with pro sandboarder Kati Bohm (Ex Namibia pro boarder). Ride the beautiful white dunes of Atlantis on the stunning west coast.

We offer stand up and lie down boarding or combination of both. Stand Up Boarding. No experience neccessary, although previous boarding experience in always a bonus in terms of skill in balance. On stand up boarding trips we use snowboards and bindings. For experienced snowboarders it is important to be aware of the fact that snowboarding and sandboarding are different in terms of the stance used as well as certain techniques which would have to be adjusted slightly. The experience could be compared to snowboarding in thick powder. Inexperienced boarders will adjust easily as well.

The sand is slightly softer, as well as slower than snow, and therefore gives the boarder the opportunity to find their balance. The experienced instructors will guide riders though balancing techniques at first and then move through techniques in turning. Once the rider is confident in their equipment and riding, their skills could be easily be taken to the snow.

You willl be accompanied by experienced sandboarders on the dunes at all times. The Stand up boarder has the option of trying lie down boarding as well.

Lie Down Boarding: In this type of boarding the sandboarder lies down on their stomach, shooting head first down the dune. Instructors start with a brief instruction period, after which we head up the dune for your first ride. This first ride is gentle and introduces the boarder to the feel of the ride and gives them the opportunity to practice and adjust to steering the board. Once the boarder is confident, we progress to explore other dunes.

On the tandem run each boarder picks a partner and we send them down a gentle slope with one sitting in the front and one controlling the board from the back. We will be moving around the dunes and trying out different slopes during the course of the trip.

What you need to bring with you:
Closed shoes, Sunglasses, Sunblock, Cameras and Jacket.

We are an eco friendly operator, our ethos is leave no trace and we respect the biodiversity of the unique dune area.

English, Afrikaans and German spoken. We offer morning and afternoon trips. Lunch is provided and we accommodate vegetarians and lactose intolerant clients. A minimum of 4 people required. Group bookings are welcome and discounts are available.
