About Rock-Hopper Trail
If you are feeling energetic, adventurous and up for a good challenge, then while in Bainskloof make sure you join the fun yet grueling rock-hopper trail.
This 6 kilometer trail leads you up or down a beautiful river (depending on which end you decide to start), where you will be scrambling along rocks and through the river bed. You will see some exquisite vegetation along the way and if you are not concentrating too hard on your climbing, you may see some small animals around the area.
It is advisable to wear proper walking shoes with good grip and to take lunch with you as this trail is long and arduous, and a lunch break along the way will be very welcome.
If it is summer when you are here, try to leave before 10h00 in the morning to avoid the hottest sun while you are on the trail. You can stay at the Tweede Tol campsite here which is well maintained and very popular amongst fellow hikers. Stay the weekend and if you are still feeling fit then why not attempt the 9km Bobbejaan's river trail the following day.
