The Robertson Wine Valley produces some of the most delicious and respected wines in South Africa. And, as an added benefit, it is absolutely beautiful for its vineyards, mountains and greenery. So, heading into this countryside with Wine Valley Safari is an incredible way to enjoy good wine, excellent food, and breath-taking scenery.

Wine Valley Safari is a local company that invites visitors to experience the very best of Robertson aboard the spacious open-air safari vehicle. This is an African safari with more than a small difference. Instead of spotting the Big Five in their natural habitat, you get to explore popular farms as well as lesser-known ones that promise some fantastic hidden gems. Instead of the smell of the bush, you get to savour the bouquet of world-class labels.

The Freestyle Wine Valley Safari allows visitors to go on a hop-on, hop-off excursion of the area, where they can choose where they'd like to get off and how long they'd prefer to stay at each hotspot. This takes between three and five hours and includes a mixture of well-known wine estates and rarer finds.

This is more than just a tour of wine farms, though. Visitors have the opportunity to taste whiskey, gin, grappa, craft beers, MCC (often called sparkling wine) and even olives. Head to the lavender farm, go on a river cruise, tour authentic cellars, and see the cultural sites of McGregor Village. Along the way, enjoy delicious lunches against gorgeous backdrops.

This one-of-a-kind safari adventure is available from Monday to Sunday and each day offers a different route and experience. Limited seats are available and bookings must be done well in advance. For groups of six people or more that are staying in Robertson or Montagu, transport from the accommodation can be arranged. For those travelling from destinations further afield (such as Cape Town or the towns along the Garden Route), group transfers can be arranged in advance.
