About Withington Wines
Withington Wines are situated in the heart of Darling and follow in the footsteps of many a wine merchant in UK and France. They act as a NÉGOCIANT which is a wine merchant who brings small growers and winemakers together and sells it under its own name. This concept is becoming more and more popular in South Africa has wine farmers realize that someone else may have better produce in their vineyards which could be utilized in their wine.
Withington wines are produced with the thinking that you can look around for farms selling the best of a certain cultivar instead of growing your own. Withington Wines source various styles of wine, different wineries and winemakers they would like to partner with and find ways to add value to each other's offerings.
Their range includes the Chardonnay 2010 with a burst of flavour yielded from gently crushed, unwooded grapes; Semillon 2010 which is a full and elegant wine with a taste of lemon and lime with an almond backing. Their Cabernet 2009 has a fine balance with ripe red berry on the nose and a touch of plum, strawberry and cherry. The Carignan 2009 is a full bodied wine carrying red fruit, vanilla and dark chocolate aromas.
