About Addo Reach & Hein's Cottage
Alicedale, a hidden gem in the Eastern Cape's Frontier District, is home to Addo Reach and Hein's Cottage. Just an hour's drive from Port Elizabeth International Airport and a fifteen minute drive from a turnoff on the N10, it makes an ideal stop over for those travelling to or from Cape Town and the beautiful Garden Route, or R62.
Close to major game reserves, and the famous Addo Elephant Park, just a short and scenic drive away, Addo Reach and Hein's Cottage is the ideal stop over or place for a well-earned break away from the madding crowd.
Accommodation
Addo Reach & Hein's Cottage offers accommodation in Addo in a variety of rooms and cottages. We offer complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits and bottled water, which are replenished each day when we service your room. With the exception of The Annex, each room has an overhead fan and a heater is available when the nights get cold. Vehicles are parked behind locked gates.

On Site Facilities
Our non-licensed home pub has a TV and you are welcome to join us there – but bring your own tipple. Ours is a strictly 'non-smoking in the house' establishment, but the garden is large.
Breakfast & Dining
If you don't feel like cooking, meals are available with prior notice where possible; a hearty breakfast and a 2-course dinner is offered.
Braai packs, wood and bread can be rustled up without difficulty. Louis' Pub and Grub is open on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with the best steaks and pizzas and splendid atmosphere - he offers takeaways too.
Location & Attractions
The historic and picturesque towns of Grahamstown, Salem and Sidbury are also within easy driving distance and the renowned Grahamstown Festival in June and July of each year, with the cream of local and international arts, crafts and theatre is but 52 km away.
You can choose to test your skill on the challenging 18-hole Bushman Sands Gary Player Golf Course just a 5 minute walk away, excellent opportunities for mountain biking, and our local dam offers a peaceful and scenic space to pit your wits against those living in it! OR, you could simply take the opportunity to relax, sleep late, read, paint, enjoy the birds and their song, the stars ..... and just be peaceful.

Extremely hospitable hosts (Eli and John), willing to share their time, stories & experiences, and food and friends! Hein's cottage has everything one could wish for and/or need. It contains a number of very interesting art works, pictures, and photographs (as does the main house). Beautiful surroundings with opportunities for interesting road trips. A visit to Jan-Paul Barnard (of mohair textiles fame) was a highlight. A great pity that Bushman Sands golf club has closed, but we managed to play a few wonderful games at the very picturesque, well-manicured, and very interesting The Belmont at Grahamstown. Meeting with Eli and John and spending time with them, their friends, and their facilities will always be treasured.
