About Amohela Ho Spitskop
Amohela ho Spitskop Country Retreat & Conservancy is beautiful, exclusive and close enough to be easily accessible, but far enough to be remote, special and magical. Succumb to our large, comfortably furnished self catering cottages where we offer seldom found seclusion and privacy.
The silence and beauty of our valley, with flocks of birds flying in great V formations to feeding grounds, the rasping noise of the Northern Korhaan, and far away the sound of a dog barking or a cow calling her calf to heal. The magnificent sunsets are followed by nights with stars that take your breath away.
ACCOMMODATION
The 420 acre Amohela Ho Spitskop Retreat is nestled in a valley between the small rural farming villages of Ficksburg and Clocolan. The self catering cottages are beautifully positioned to enjoy the spectacular views that stretch to the majestic Maluti Mountain in the South-East. Please see the individual cottage and unit descriptions with photographs below, to assist you with your choice.
Need to bring work with you on holiday, no problem, book our workpod, a classically 'Free State' workspace for digital nomads, remote workers, and anyone looking for a quiet, remote, yet digitally connected place to work. Our wonderful Work Pod offers, Wi-Fi, desks, tea/ coffee making facilities, a toilet and a secluded garden area. Our work pod is open to guests booked into our cottages and is available for hire on an exclusive basis.

Pets are welcome on request only. Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. Pet owners to bring dog beds and water / food bowls.
EXPERIENCES
This is the perfect place to take a deep breath and slow down the hectic pace of life. With walking trails laid out on the 420 acre Retreat, climbs into the stunning little mountain as well as a bird list of some 250 species, small mammals and amazing stars at night this is indeed a very special place.
Locally there are beautiful day drives, small and quaint villages to visit and good eateries in the village. There is also a golf course where visitors are welcome and can wander the greens.
San rock art and the luminosity of light attract both painters and photographers to this area. Guests are welcome to go cycling on the property or locally on safe scenic country roads. Each year in March there is a well-run mountain cycle race which spans over four days, combined with a cultural and vintage tractor show.
In the areas around Ficksburg and Clocolan it is Cherry Country and Ficksburg hosts the oldest crop festival in South Africa, The Cherry Festival which is held in November each year. With the proximity to the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho guests are welcome to take a day drive to the huge Katse dam or a visit to Afriski Ski Resort through the mountain passes and valleys which are of exquisite beauty. (Passports are required to enter Lesotho).

The one bedroom has a king sized bed with beautiful percale linen, duvets made for cuddling, comfortably heated blankets for chilly weather. The room leads out through French doors onto the covered deck with views to take your breath away. The second double bedroom has single beds, heated blankets for chilly weather and opens onto the covered deck-with-a-view. Five guests can be accommodated, the cottage is serviced daily. Ample safe parking is provided behind the cottage and free Wi-Fi is available at the main reception area.
