The inviting Bambi Cottage is right in the beautiful heart of Stanford, a village that remains one of the most popular spots to visit in the Cape Overberg. It's iconic for its Victorian cottages and breath-taking surrounds, idyllically perched on the mountain slopes.

There are dirt roads and trails to explore, and the whole area is punctuated by scenic mountains, plenty of greenery, and the gentle tranquillity of the Klein River. The Stanford walking trail, affectionately known as the wandelpad, is a little trail that winds along the river and takes you around the village too.

Combining the convenience and security of an hotel with the independence and privacy of a self-catering holiday home, Bambi Cottage is a stand-alone cottage located in the grounds of The Stanford Hotel (the only hotel in the village).

The main bedroom at Bambi Cottage is furnished with a queen-size bed and the second bedroom has a three-quarter bed. There's one bathroom, which has a combined shower and bath, hand basin and WC.

The open-plan kitchen is fully-equipped with all of the appliances and amenities required for a few days away from home. It leads onto the inviting lounge and dining area.

There's a braai area on the private veranda, and the enclosed garden is irresistible for energetic children, or anyone that wants to soak up some vitamin D.

THE STANFORD EXPERIENCE

So many of the activities in Stanford are centred on the Klein River (the shortest river in the world from source to sea) and the Hermanus Estuary. Swim, kayak, or stand-up paddle the calm waters before heading to the village for a bite.

The Walker Bay Nature Reserve is close to Bambi Cottage too and is perfect for day hikes and whale watching. Stanford is between Gansbaai and Hermanus, and is only about two hours from Cape Town.
