About Bermanzi Mountain Retreat

Bermanzi is nestled on the edge of the escarpment between the towns of Machadodorp, Waterval Boven and Badplaas. It is a two and a half hours drive from Gauteng.

Self Catering Accommodation

Self catering accommodation is available for up to 10 guests in a well-appointed cottage and a fully-contained private suite for up to two persons.

Vakashani Cottage (Sleeps 10):
The cottage has two bedrooms each furnished with a double bed and two open sleeping area which can accommodate either three adults or children. There are three full bathrooms.

The cottage is equipped with cookware, crockery, cutlery as well as an electric stove / oven, a microwave and fridge. There is a fireplace, DStv and braai facilities.

The lounge and main bedroom offer balconies with spectacular views of the Komati River Valley. The cottage is named ‘Vakashani', which is a Swazi word to describe having a good time.

In the Rocks Suite (Sleeps 2):
The private suite offers a romantic getaway with an en-suite bedroom, a fireplace and DStv. The suite has a kitchenette with an electric stove, refrigerator, microwave oven, crockery and cutlery. The suite has its own patio and braai facilities with magnificent views of the mountains.

Hiking

Bermanzi offers a 20 km two day trail which has been likened to scenes from the Lord of the Rings! The trail will take you from high on the escarpment, over rivulets only to rapidly descend through the dense forest into a deep gorge. The Bermanzi Trail can be accessed on either the Bermanzi 2 Day Back to Base Trail, the Oom Paul's 2 Day Backpackers Trail or the renowned Num-Num Trail. The trails all enjoy Green Flag Status.
