Despite being a pivotal town of the Free State, Bethlehem has remained largely obscure - too large to make it in to the popular 'village society' of Ficksburg, Fouriesburg, Clarens and Rosendal, yet not quite big enough to compete with the likes of Bloemfontein for status. Follow Muller Street through town. When you cross a little bridge BMW will be on your left hand side. Move to the right lane. At the second robot turn right. That is the N5 to Durban, Clarens and Golden Gate.

As you get into town The Pick and Pay centre will be on your right. Carry straight on with that road - the N5 to Durban, Harrsmith, Clarens and Golden Gate. As you go up the hill it seems that you are leaving town. Keep in the right hand lane. At the robot at the top of the hill turn right. There is an Engen garage on your left hand side after turning right.
From Durban, Harrismith
At the first robot as you enter town on the N5 turn left. From the robot at the first stop , that is a four way stop, turn left, that is Baartman Street. The first street turns right - that is van Riebeeck Street. Cross Edeling Street and get to a T-Junction. At the T junction turn right into Plein Street. The third house on the right is Birch Bush. Sign on the wall.
