ACCOMMODATION
Rooms are spacious and each has its own private entrance & patio, river views, overhead fan and underfloor heating, bar fridge and TV with MNet. Golf courses, horse-riding, game drives, mountain bike trails, beaches, restaurants and shops are all just a ten-minute drive away.
Each room has barbecue facilities for guests who'd like to cook their own dinner next to the river - alternatively Sue can recommend good restaurants, make dinner bookings & organise a taxi if required.
LOCATION
The lodge is situated on the Bitou River, 8 km from Plettenberg Bay, 100km from George, 220 km from Port Elizabeth, and 530km from Cape Town.
ACTIVITIES
Bitou River Lodge is a great base for many activities. Birders will enjoy the 145 species that can be seen from or at the Lodge, and can explore further to Uplands (raptors), the lagoon (waders), and Natures Valley (trogons & finfoot).
The Lodge has canoes for guests to use and explore the river with. There are several forest and coastal hiking trails within the area, as well as mountain bike trails. Horse-riding can be arranged at the Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve, just up the road – it's a great experience to watch wild animals from horseback. Diving with seals is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Dolphin & whale-watching trips by boat, or by kayak can be arranged, as can fishing trips out to sea. There are two golf courses in the area, Goose Valley just five minutes away. Further afield one can visit monkeys, birds, snakes, cats & elephants.
There are wine farms and, in season, polo tournaments. There are several excellent restaurants in the area including Enrico's & The Deck with beach views, Emily Moon & Lemon Grass with river views & Fat Fish with lagoon views.

What a lovely spot! I recommended this location meantime to many tourists. It is quite, natural, nice decoratet rooms, perfect breakfast (mostly too much), every morning a different special. Only few miles from the golf courses, very special recommedations for dinner/lunch places. Has been always perfect. We are going back to enjoy Sue`s service in Jan. 2015. Volker&Karin
