Blackwaters River Lodge, situated outside Knysna in the Garden Route, offers Bed And Breakfast accommodation, bird watching, river canoeing, golfing, swimming and relaxing. Hiking Trails, mountain biking, horse riding, whale watching, deep-sea charters, scenic drives, outdoor adventures and forest trails can be arranged for interested parties.
The atmosphere is enticingly romantic and tranquil. Our guest lounge has a log fireplace and cosy private pub. Breakfast is a leisurely affair. Select from the buffet table or request an English breakfast from the kitchen. Wi-Fi available in all rooms.

OUTSIDE BLACKWATERS RIVER LODGE
The Lodge is set in 8 acres of manicured gardens with well established trees and bordered by the black waters of the Goukamma River. Tranquillity and a sense of peacefulness are personified by the abundant bird life found in and around the gardens. 30% of Garden Route birds have been identified at Blackwaters River Lodge.
Blackwaters is able to offer their guests more activities on site: canoeing on the river, mashie golf, swimming Pool, bird watching and picnic facilities at the Rivers edge. The on site mashie golf course has specifically been designed so as not to detract from the natural beauty of this most fertile valley. Our "19th hole" pub has become our social spot with guests of Blackwaters and golfers mingling in the evening.
There are wonderful spots to enjoy the evening ... next to the river, outside your unit, at the golf lapa or the swimming pool. The mysterious black waters of the Goukamma River winds through the estate. Take a canoe and choose between a lazy paddle or a more strenuous trip down to the beach (+/- 12 kms).
Buffels Bay beach, only 8 km's from Blackwaters River Lodge, is the areas best bathing beach. The long white beach is ideal for walking too. There are so many fantastic eating houses within a 12km radius, but for those who don't want to drive at night we can provide a "meal of the day" on request OR we can provide a shuttle service to and from the restaurant.

Wonderful hosts - warm and friendly and helpful, and catering is to die for! The location is peaceful and interesting and the accommodation first class. If you are doing the Garden Route this is a 'rolls royce' B&B.

Our entire family (over 20 of us!) stayed at Blackwaters for my dad's 80th birthday celebration. They really went all out to make it a really special occassion and we thank them for such special memories. Our ages ranged from 9 to 80 and everyone had a wonderful time! The accommodation itself was fantastic - very clean and comfortable and each room had been beautifully outfitted, with all the amenities you could ask for. There was lots to keep all ages busy - and we all had such fun in the golf challenge. The food was also wonderful and they even went so far as to find out my dad's favourite meal for the birthday dinner! I highly recommend this venue - whether it be for a quick stopover, a longer stay, or a group get-together for a special occasion.
