About Boskloof Swemgat
The farm Boskloof Swemgat is situated in the Boskloof valley, a magnificent unspoiled area, bordering on the Cederberg Wilderness Area. The Jan Dissels River flows through the valley and the farm was named for a favourite river pool or "swemgat".
Accommodation
The accommodation is set along the river banks and guests can enjoy swimming and fishing in the clear, unpolluted river. We offer whitewashed, thatch-roofed cottages and pre-fab cottages, set in the tranquil farm landscape. All are well equipped, have full bathrooms and good quality bed linen and towels are provided. All five have indoor fireplaces/indoor braai facilities. Wood is for sale on the farm for your convenience.
Hangnes has a hot tub and Kliphuis has a jacuzzi.

Activities
Other activities include mountain biking and hiking, on farm roads or longer hikes – the start of the Krakadouw Trail being nearby. You can also do the rewarding hike to "Die Toring", a nearby peak - about 4 hours there and back.
In spring the valley turns into a spectacle of riotous colour when wild flowers carpet the landscape as far as the eye can see. Birds and wild life abound in the mostly organically farmed valley. The plaintive call of the Fish Eagle is often heard and small game spotted, like klipspringers, steenbokkies and dassies.
Bring your loved ones and spend quality time in this tranquil spot. If you are feeling more adventurous, you can explore the Cederberg, the coast at Lambert's Bay, Wupperthal, Namaqualand and Clanwilliam from here.

Our return to Clanwilliam was long overdue. Boskloof Road is very easy to find and the gravel surface relatively smooth for about 8km. A lovely greeting from the fabled Gretha and we were across the road and into Cottage 6. It is well equipped and the air conditioning and open fireplaces would cope with various temperatures. The bed is fairly small, perfectly adequate for 2 persons of smaller size - 60/65kg. Lots of little extras, such as tea/coffee/washing up liquid/milk which is often very useful. Loved the stoop and the visiting birds: most of all I enjoyed the pool, cool and clean and adequate for a bit of a swim. (We noticed that 2 families had come for a long weekend - regular customers - couples, both with 2 small children who obviously shared my feelings!). Our only reservation? We’re walkers and would have appreciated the opportunity to wander around the valley. However, there are several places within a short drive that we may use in future. Thank You Boskloof Swemgat for a wonderful stay.
