About Brakdakkie Guest Cottages

Having been built in 1950 on Sonskyn Farm, Brakdakkie Guest Cottages still has the original barns and donkey sheds. Each of the well-appointed rooms is littered with keepsakes from the South Africa of generations past, while also having been restored to show off the original charm of the farmhouse, together with all of the modern touches that make it so special.

Self Catering Accommodation

Brakdakkie Guest Cottages offers four private cottages that sleep 12 people between them. Each has an en-suite bathroom, fully-equipped kitchenette, braai facilities, and private splash pool; as well as tea, coffee, biscuits, shampoo, towels, and so on. Secure off-street parking for vehicles, bikes, trailers is available.

Cottage 1 - Sleeps 2
Originally the barn of the farm, this cottage has been restored into one of our luxury suites, with a complimentary drink and gift on arrival. This cottage features a double bed with crisp, white linen, an en-suite bathroom with luxurious Victorian bath and a kitchenette with fridge, microwave, two-plate stove, kettle, toaster, cutlery, crockery and dining table. Private enclosed lawned garden with splash pool.

Cottage 2 - Sleeps 2
Originally the dairy, this cottage features twin beds with crisp, white linen (beds can be made up as two single beds or as a king) and en-suite bathroom with large shower - towels, shower gel and shampoo are supplied. The kitchenette has a fridge, kettle, toaster, cutlery, crockery and dining table. Private enclosed patio with splash pool and barbecue / braai and outside table and chairs.

Cottage 3 - Sleeps 4
Originally the shed for Esmerelda the donkey, this cottage features a double bed and two single beds (in an open plan arrangement) with crisp, white linen and an en-suite bathroom with large shower - towels, shower gel and shampoo are supplied. Kitchenette with fridge, kettle, toaster, cutlery, crockery, and dining table and a private patio with splash pool and barbecue / braai area.

Cottage 4 - Sleeps 2
Tucked in a cosy corner, Cottage 4 (“Slootjie”) is named after the leiwater sloot that runs through the private garden. This cottage has been converted into one of our luxury suites, with a complimentary drink and gift on arrival. This cottage features a double bed with crisp, white linen and en-suite bathroom with shower. Kitchenette with fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave and dining table and private garden and patio with splash pool and barbecue / braai area.

Additional Facilities

Little ones will love feeding the ducks and chickens that roam the farm.

Brakdakkie is situated within walking distance of the shops, restaurants and attractions in Prince Albert. This town is perched on the border of the Karoo in the Western Cape Province, and is at the foot of the magnificent Swartberg Mountain Range. The Cape Dutch, Victorian and Karoo architecture that gives this part of South Africa so much character is best enjoyed on peaceful strolls through the town, and makes for stunning backdrops to your photographs.
