About Dawsons Cottage

Dawsons Cottage offers rustic but comfortable accommodation in Badplaas at Dawson's Game and Trout Lodge. This is a great place to enjoy a cosy ambiance by the fire in winter or a view of greenery in the summer. Explore at you leisure over 2000 hectares of wide open grasslands and bushveld, teeming with herds of antelope.

Self Catering Accommodation

Dawsons Cottage in Badplaas ideally sleeps five guests. The upstairs open plan loft serves as the main bedroom and is furnished with a double bed, a Victorian bath, basin and toilet. Downstairs there is a bedroom with no door that opens to the living space and is furnished with two single beds and a pull out bed. The second bathroom is fitted with a shower, toilet and basin.

This living space is open plan and has a fully fitted kitchen, comfortable lounge area and a dining table. The living are has a fireplace and a TV with satellite channels. Housekeeping services are also provided throughout the stay.

Outside there is a patio with braai facilities.

On Site Facilities

The original Dawson's home houses the reception, three lounges, dining room, library, TV room and bar. Guests can enjoy the swimming pool on hot summer days.

Meals can be arranged and enjoyed at the main lodge on request.

ACTIVITIES

Guests have full access to a variety of activities while staying at Dawsons Game and Trout Lodge. These include guided game drives and walks, bird viewing, scenic hikes or just simply relax around our pool area and soak up the magnificent sunshine and views.

Bird Watching:
The area hosts a unique combination of bird species such as Knysna Lourie, Malachite Hum bird, Olive Bush-Shrike, Trumpeter Hornbill and many more occasional visitors and seasonal migrants. Spending a few hours in our corner of paradise accompanied by a professional field guide will offer constant excitement and photographic opportunities.

Hikes and Walks:
Revitalise your spirits with a short guided or free walking day - walk along 100-year-old water canals to a spectacular waterfall overlooking the valley.

Game viewing:
Early morning and late afternoon guided game drives will thrill you across wide-open grasslands and through dense bushveld. Experience the unique behavioural patterns of our myriad of wild indigenous game species whilst enjoying your favourite sundowner.

Sightseeing:
Dawsons Game and Trout Lodge, is situated in Mpumalanga (meaning “the rising sun”) which is well known for its spectacular scenery, wild life and historical interest. Exciting day drives can be taken to nearby Barberton, Pilgrims Rest (Discovery of Gold - Gold Rush), Graskop, Sabie and Swaziland, as well as the Kruger National Park.
