About Du Vlei

Albert and Thereza du Toit welcomes you to Du Vlei. Experience the unique, warm hospitality of farmers in the heart of the Swartland. Du Vlei is situated 7km from the picturesque Riebeek Kasteel, on the banks of the Berg River.

Accommodation

The big original farmhouse, dating back to 1704, has been renovated into four spacious, fully equipped, self-catering units. The old wine cellar, harness, mill and milk rooms were renovated into luxurious guestrooms.

All the self-catering units' kitchens are fully equipped and have a TV / living area. All the luxurious guestrooms have coffee-making facilities and fridges.

Relax on the veranda and experience the breathtaking views of the mountains, the Berg River and the vineyards with the awesome sound of fish eagles crying in the background. Du Vlei is a bird-watchers dream. Enjoy all of this whilst your children enjoy the huge garden with expansive lawns and a sparkling pool.

Du Vlei is only 75km from Cape Town, one hour from Cape Town International Airport and a few minutes' drive from several wedding venues and wine / olive estates.

Restaurant & Farm stall

Our farm stall, restaurant and bakery opened its doors in January 2012. Breakfast and lunch are served daily from 08h00 until 17h00 (closed on Mondays). Freshly baked bread is available every day.

Attractions

Du Vlei is situated on a working farm on the banks of the Berg River, in the heart of the well known Riebeek Valley in the Boland. It is next to the R46 main road between Malmesbury and Ceres.

Explore the Cape Winelands, visit the historic towns of Tulbagh, Wellington and Malmesbury (25 - 30km away) or be on the beach of the West Coast at Yzerfontein and Langebaan in less than an hour.

After an emergency situation and the resulting misunderstanding we settled nicely at the place. The rooms were bigger than expected and cozy and clean. The reception was friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed the patio and braai area and the swings that were placed all over the farm. We had a nice chat with the host's parents, they were very helpful. Unfortunately there were no pets roaming around as it said and the whole place felt deserted. The noise from the road was rather loud during the day. As the weather got cloudy some rooms got very dark as the lights were dim. We eat a simple breakfast at the farm stall which was delicious and the owner was very friendly and open for suggestions. We also found it rather expensive (R 400 for 5 people).
