About Elephant Rest Forest Cottage

Located on a farm in Rheenendal outside Knysna, Elephant Rest Forest Cottage offers self catering accommodation for six people. Elephant Rest is idyllically situated along the beautiful indigenous Lawnwood Forest; a peaceful and tranquil getaway. We are a 20 minute drive to beautiful safe beaches. Horse riding is available nearby.

Self Catering Accommodation

Elephant Rest is not only very beautiful but also the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle.

This self catering timber cottage offers three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The main bedroom and the second bedroom each have a double bed. The third bedroom has two single beds.

There is an open plan kitchen and a lounge area. The kitchen is fully equipped for your self catering stay and there is a dining area where you can enjoy your home cooked meals. The cosy lounge has comfy seating a TV and a fireplace.

Settle down for drinks on the spacious deck which overlooks the dam and farmlands. Elephant Rest Forest Cottage is both child and pet friendly. We also offer T-shirt painting for the children.

A number of hiking and cycling trails are on your doorstep (we have three bicycles available for hire). The cottage is also in close proximity to the historical Millwood Gold Mines and enchanting Jubilee Creek. Allow Mother Holly's Tea Garden to nourish your taste buds while soaking in the breathtaking mountain views.

Visit the Dalene Matthee monument under the gentle giant Yellowwood tree. Bird watching is popular - watch out for the Knysna Loerie and if you're lucky, the Narina Trogon. Enjoy country living with a few good restaurants and general store within 10 minute drive or take a scenic drive to Knysna town.
