Fort D' Acre is an exclusive thatched safari lodge situated at the mouth of the Great Fish River, 25km from Port Alfred. Its unique positioning, with sweeping views of bush and coastline, invites the visitor to explore contrasting habitats for grassland bushveld, wild seaside and riverine forest. Game drives into the reserve offer opportunities to view 19 different species including Cape buffalo and giraffe.

Accommodation

The stylish lodge at Fort D' Acre Reserve is elegantly furnished capturing the spirit of Africa. The comfortable lounge with open fires and indoor dining area offers a cosy alternative in the evening. The en-suite bedrooms (three double rooms and one twin room) all have sweeping views. There is an additional room for two children. Relax in the beautiful and peaceful indigenous gardens with huge Coral trees, large swimming pool and braai area. The lodge offers DSTV, DVD player and WiFi.

A wonderful development is the oceanside lapa, overlooking the beach it is a very special place for a picnic lunch or family barbecue. In the evening relax with a drink while the sun sets and a million stars sparkle in the southern sky. By day watch dolphins and whales and be lulled by the sound of waves washing the white sand.

Adventure & Exploration

Our game driver is exclusively available to our guests, we can comfortably seat eight in the land rover. You have excellent view to the wildlife from the vehicle and our guide will help spot the animals and get close while keeping you safe. An extensive network of tracks allows you to explore the reserve and also provide access to the beach and lapa, where you might want to enjoy a sundowner before returning to the lodge.

When we have new babies or other special sightings our guide will do his best to locate them for you.
