About Fossil Hills Farm Cottages
Fossil Hills offers self catering accommodation in McGregor in cottages on the Thornvilla Farm between Robertson and McGregor in the Breede River Valley. The farm has been making wine since 1950 and is a family run and owned working wine farm. During your stay you can enjoy a variety of things to do and activities.
The name Fossil Hills, comes from the fossils that were and are still found on the farm which date back to the fish age of 355 million years ago. Come and enjoy the peace and quietness of staying on a working wine farm near the most beautiful town in the Western Cape, McGregor.
Self Catering Accommodation
Stay in one of the cottages or houses ranging from cosy two-sleeper cottages to large houses sleeping up to sixteen guests, ideal for larger family gatherings. Relax in total privacy in one of the private cottages or houses, all fully equipped for self-catering, while enjoying our spectacular mountain views and experiencing the magic of the area.
Please see individual cottage descriptions and photos below. During your stay you can make use of the two mountain bikes, a kayak, a boat and a kids playground. Here life is slow, tranquil and gentle.

Experiences
The area offers many outdoor activities, arts and crafts, tranquillity and relaxation. Surrounded by mountain trails, fruit orchards, olive groves and vineyards, the village has maintained a rural peaceful ambience which is an inspiration to artists. There are walking and hiking trails, mountain biking, bird watching in Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve, a pottery studio, art galleries, cob house building and enjoyable meals and chats at one of our coffee shops, restaurants or pubs.
Situated 16km from the farm is the R62 wine route where you will be able to taste and enjoy the various wine that make the Breede Valley so popular. The most spectacular hiking trail is the Boesmanskloof trail from McGregor to Greyton. There is so much that the area offers from those wanting to relax to those seeking an adventure.

Tango Guest House main house sleeps four four guests and the Tango Annex sleeps six guests. Tango is an excellent choice for a large family. This fully equipped self catering house is on a wine farm, with beautiful mountain view. The Main House has one double bedroom (air-conditioned) and one room with two singele beds. There is a fully equipped kitchen and a dining room (10-12 seater table) with indoor braai. There is a sitting room / lounge and a bathroom equipped with a bath, shower and toilet. Indoor braai/outdoor braai. 10 metres away is the Annex which sleeps six guests in two rooms each furnished with either one double bed each OR two single beds each. Then the last bedroom has two single beds en suite. Dit was die mees ongelooflikste naweek. Die huis is beter as perfek. En nog beter as die fotos wat jy sien. Daar is tonne spasie. Kombuis het alles wat jy nodig het, so goed uitgerus, en baie van alles wat jy nodig het. Baie yskaste en vrieskaste. So skoon en netjies. Ons kan nie wag om weer te gaan nie. Eienaars is amazing, het ons op hoogte gehou, mooi ingelig oor alles en nog meer. Baie geluk met jul stunning Plek. Sien jul binnekort weer!
