On the Mpumalanga Highveld bordering KwaZulu-Natal, nestled between mountains and wetlands, lies the Freckled Frog Cottage at Forellenhof Guest Farm. The holiday cottage in Wakkerstroom is ideally situated for a stopover from- and to KwaZulu-Natal and the Kruger National Park and Swaziland. It is a mere 3 hour drive from Pretoria and Johannesburg.

The Cottage has two double bedrooms of which one has an en-suite bathroom and the bedroom has twin beds. Two bedrooms share a bathroom fitted with a shower. Bring your whole family or friends for a break-away and treat yourself to the warmth that Freckled Frog provides.

Location & Attractions

For mountain bikers, there are many quiet, safe roads to ride on in the area as well as some fairly technical routes. Wakkerstroom is ideal for high altitude mountain bike training. Mountain biking is also one of the best ways to experience the natural serenity of the surrounding countryside.

Fishing takes place at Martins, Zaaihoek and Heyshope Dams. We do not offer any fishing at Forellenhof Guest farm.

Wakkerstroom also lends itself to some truly magnificent hikes. The Ossewakop which can also be reached by car as long as you have a 4×4 vehicle. You will enjoy the breath-taking views over the Zaaihoek Dam and the Balele Mountains towards KwaZulu Natal.
