Gamtoos Castle is a charming retreat located on the banks of the Gamtoos River, in the picturesque Kouga region, just 18km from Jeffreys Bay off the R102. Surrounded by majestic mountains and the serene river, our guests can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Accommodation

Gamtoos Castle offers two villas and a honeymoon suite. The villas each have five bedrooms and a shared bathroom and living area. The honeymoon suite offers self-catering facilities and an en-suite bathroom.

Attractions

Gamtoos Castle is located approximately 20km from central Jeffreys Bay. The town, known as J-Bay, is a beautiful coastal town in the Eastern Cape, about an hour's drive from Gqeberha. This famous surfing destination is characterised by small town attractions, pristine shell-lined beaches, and the best surfing waves in South Africa. Jeffreys Bay boasts a number of nature reserves in the area.

To the north-east of Jeffrey's Bay lies the Kabeljous Nature Reserve, a walk-about reserve known to anglers for its diversity of fish. It is one of the best preserved estuaries in the Eastern Cape, home to waterfowl, herons, and a variety of waders. In addition, the nearby Seekoei River Nature Reserve lies on the estuary formed by the Seekoei and Swart Rovers, and features over 120 species of birds, red-knobbed coots, buck, and other small animals. The reserve boasts a circular hike and a hide that overlooks the river.
