Goblin's Creek Manor House is a highly recommended B&B with self catering option, providing accommodation in St Helena Bay for anyone visiting the Cape West Coast region.
Goblin's Creek, situated in quiet peaceful surroundings, welcomes guests with a sherry on arrival. As you enter the spacious and very comfortable sitting room, huge overstuffed sofas invitingly beckon you to sit cozily with a good book and liqueur in front of a huge roaring log fire in winter. Or, equally inviting in summertime, light and airy with French doors opening onto the large surrounding verandah and garden.
Goblin's Creek boasts four magnificent bedrooms designed for the romantic at heart. Each bedroom has a huge king size four-poster bed draped with silk mosquito netting and puffy down duvet with white percale covering and of course a log fireplace.
Each bedroom also has its own bathroom with old-fashioned ball and claw bath and lots of candles completes the setting making bedtime and bath time an absolute indulgence! Drift off to sleep to the sound of the waves of the nearby beach and the calling of the seagulls.
Open plan to the sitting room and dining area is the large pleasant farm style kitchen for self catering purposes, equipped with all you could need, giving a free flow for easy and relaxed socializing, whether in the kitchen, the sitting room or outdoors. The smell of home made rusks baking often fills the kitchen inviting guests to brew a cup of delicious filter coffee and dunk a rusk.. These are available to guests at all times.
Under a huge old tree in the garden is an ideal shady spot to relax with a nearby unique Koi pond feature. Close by in a lovely sheltered spot is a swimming pool for cooling off on the hot summer days or just lounging around relaxing for some sunbathing.
Take the four minute walk to the nearby beach - Stroll the white sands - view the calving whales who come from August to years end and also large schools of dolphins leaping and chasing close by.
Though only 150 km from Cape Town, St Helena Bay has a milder and warmer climate providing ideal conditions for your stay in the peace of this quiet haven. Well situated for day visits to the West Coast National Park, Cape Columbine Nature Reserve and the quaint fishing village of Paternoster. Or you can join a tour of the internationally renowned palaeontological diggings at the nearby Fossil Park.
A Birdwatcher's paradise, with more than 200 species, visit the hides at Rocher Pan, The Berg River Estuary and saltpans of Velddrif, as well as the golf club in Vredenburg. The free springflower veld displays every year are a Botanists dream as is the nearby Darling and Hopefield flower shows.
What is loadshedding? It refers to the temporary suspension of electricity provided by Eskom, South Africa's electricity provider, to reduce consumption and thereby the load on the national grid. To compensate, South African property owners are turning to solar power, inverters with backup batteries or in some cases generators to keep the power on, wherever feasible.

A beautiful place that my partner and I stayed in for one night! Extremely friendly and welcoming hosts who were very helpful with any questions we had. Close to the sea and to shops and restaurants and lots of cute ducks on site. A simple breakfast is included if you want and the kitchen and general house facilities are available for you to use - they wanted us to make ourselves at home. Sea Room where we spent the night had a lovely view of the sea, especially of the west coast flowers at this time of year. The room had all that we needed, with a lovely big bath and the king size 4 poster bed was amazing and comfy. Decorated really nicely with some lovely touches like rose petals and a little chocolate on arrival. Highly recommended and we'll definitely be back!

A lovely spot for a romantic 2 nights and days away from the city, close to Paternoster but much less charming area. The house is welcoming, stylish and comfortable, we had a romantic bedroom 2 with a superbly comfy king-sized four-poster bed with electric blanket and mosquito net, couch, Victorian bath and fireplace with sunny windows. George was a very friendly and helpful manager and made us feel at home. Wifi was good and helped us get a bit of work done. Goblin's Creek is well situated if you wish to walk on the beach, relax or work around the garden or take short trips to other areas of St Helena Bay region. We brought our own breakfast as we don't eat meat or wheat or sugar or dairy, but there was a basic continental breakfast (cereal and long life milk) available, and filter coffee, black and rooibos tea, and sugar were available for use at any time. Thanks so much for a very pleasant stay!
