Goodluck Homestead is a working farm using regenerative farming practices, therefore no toxic herbicides and pesticides are used. Guests are welcome to wander around the farm, swim and fish in the dams, and meander through the veggie gardens.
What is loadshedding? It refers to the temporary suspension of electricity provided by Eskom, South Africa's electricity provider, to reduce consumption and thereby the load on the national grid. To compensate, South African property owners are turning to solar power, inverters with backup batteries or in some cases generators to keep the power on, wherever feasible.

I booked at vineyard cottage because of its commitment to eco-friendly practices. From recycling programs to energy-saving measures, they prioritize environmental conservation without compromising comfort. We were mesmerized by everything from the attention to detail and the welcome gift basket. Their communication: fast and helpful. Thank you so much for making our stay so wonderful and comfortable. It was so clean. We will definitely book there in the near future. We also made lots of unforgettable memories...

Our week at the Vineyard Cottage in Standford was the highlight of our three-week trip to the area. The cottage is completely private and removed from the rest of the homestead. It's the ideal location for those needing some time away from city life. It's close enough to Stanford to pop out for a bite to eat and close enough to Hermanus for a half day out. The Panthera wild cat sanctuary is down the road, meaning we could watch the beautiful sunsets to the sound of lions in the background. We received a basket full of fresh produce, honey and wine from the homestead upon arrival - a lovely, warm welcome. The cottage was spotlessly clean and well-stocked with wood for the fireplace, braai and hot tub. The unit got a quick clean, with fresh towels and more firewood every third day. During those days the homemade muesli and heavenly biscotti were also replenished. We felt properly spoiled. The kitchen is thoughtfully stocked with everything one might need to prepare food at home, down to foil, paper towels, ice and storage bowls. Note there is no oven, so pack things that can easily be cooked on gas or on the braai. The bed was spotless, comfortable and cozy on cold nights. The cottage is perfectly insulated, making it cool inside on hot days and nice and toasty on cold days. It's a definite plus in an area that seems to cycle through four seasons in a day. I can't recommend Vineyard Cottage highly enough. It's a true gem.
