Area
Gouritsmond is a charming tourist town located in the Hessequa Municipality, within the Garden Route District of the Western Cape Province. Situated approximately 36 kilometers southeast of Albertinia, Gouritsmond lies west of the Gouritz River estuary, on the edge of the Indian Ocean.
The surrounding landscape features coastal plains adorned with overgrown dunes, offering a picturesque backdrop. The town derives its name from the Gouritz River's mouth, where the river meets the ocean.
This quaint village boasts a serene sea beach and a large sandbank within the river estuary. Popular activities in the area include sea fishing, surfing, and wildlife watching. The village offers four designated hiking routes, each varying in length, catering to all levels of hikers.
