About Grassroots Bed and Breakfast

Grassroots is a home run bed and breakfast in a peaceful, safe, highly accessible location in the suburb of Gillitts, Upper Highway, Durban. We are 20 minutes from the beach, 40 minutes from the KwaZulu Natal Midlands and two hours from the Drakensburg Mountains. Nearby neighborhoods are Kloof, Everton, Hillcrest and Assagay.

Each of the three rooms are beautifully appointed, have en-suite bathrooms, DStv and private access.

Accommodation

Three rooms, each with their own separate entrance overlooking the tranquility of nature in all its splendour. Each room is fully furnished to perfection with queen size beds, percale linen, bar fridge as well as DStv, WIFI, coffee and tea facilities and en suite bathrooms, each with deep set baths and magnificent showers.

The large verandah has an area to sit and relax, and dining tables where our guests have their meals. This area has weather blinds to keep the chill out and still lets guests admire the view. The grounds are beautiful. If you care to step out, just past the pool and a walk down the garden is a tennis court and beyond that lays a little stream with a natural waterfall.

Breakfast

A cooked or continental breakfast is available and is served on the verandah looking over the grounds, shaded by an enormous Albizia tree.

Activities and Attractions

The upper hills of Durban are host to a variety of activities:
• Valley of a Thousand Hills (The Zulu Kingdom)
• The Midlands Meander
• Local African arts and wares
• Phezulu, the crocodile and reptile farm

And of course, just down the motorway is the famous Durban beachfront, which is only 20 minutes travel by car. We are close to all shops, restaurants and with easy access to the M13 2km away.

A place were Cheryl is happy to welcome you; Ellen, Potasia and Michael assisting with keeping the B & B clean, well maintained, and running like a well-oiled machine.
