Hawklee Country House in Fort Nottingham offers accommodation in cosy cottages close to the attractions of the Midlands Meander. From here you can admire the beautiful Drakensberg Mountains and are only a pleasurable hour and a half drive to the coast.

Accommodation

Hawklee Country House has six cottages, five of which are offered on a bed and breakfast basis. All cottages are en-suite and every Hawklee guest suite features a private Jacuzzi spa bath.

Our cottages have beautiful views of the Lions River from the sitting areas, beds and spa baths. Our Garden Cottage has a lovely secluded garden where you can sit and enjoy the view while drinking your tea. We also have a beautiful private Honeymoon suite, The Mallard, filled with lots of luxury items to test your taste buds and your own private spa bath for that romantic occasion.

Fluffy gowns, hairdryer, electric blanket, goose down duvet, hospitality package, coffee / tea tray, fully stocked bar fridge, TV with DStv and complimentary toiletries are all included.

Mallard Cottage:
Stand-alone three level thatched honeymoon cottage sleeps two in a King-size four poster bed. Private spa bath with river views is yours to enjoy. The loft used for a romantic night cap offers a magnificent view of the stars while sipping your champagne.

Kingfisher Cottage:
This cottage has a super King-size bed or two twin beds and a sleeper couch for one child under 12. Your own private spa bath overlooks the Lion's river with a spectacular view where you can relax while sipping your champagne and spoiling yourself. For your convenience we supply a hairdryer which is found in your dresser for your use. There is also an en-suite shower.

Otter Cottage:
Stand-alone thatched cottage river view sleeps two guests in a Queen-size bed and there is a sleeper couch for one child under 12. The spa bath with shower is situated towards the back of the cottage and offers privacy while you relax.

The Owl Family Cottage:
We refer to the Owl cottage as our family " Bling "cottage decorated in reds and silver and is one of the largest single room cottages with a Queen-size bed and two single sleeper couches for two children under 12 years. You can relax while looking at the view of the Lion's River. Best view of the river from the spa bath and there is an en-suite shower.

Guinea Fowl Cottage:
The only cottage with its own private deck allows you to have a very private sun-downer while relaxing on your deck and overlooking the Lions River. There is a Queen-size bed and your own spa bath inside the room and an en-suite shower. The cottage is situated on its own to the right of the main house facing the river. Duiker and large dassies are often seen from the balcony. Lovely location for studying birds as we have a huge variety.

Rose Self Catering Studio Cottage:
This delightful cottage is set in the gardens close to the main country house. Decorated in beige and pink roses the interior is quaint like a country cottage. A large King-size bed or two singles dominate the room with a seating area. Relax outside in the fresh country air and have a cup of tea while enjoying our complimentary tea/coffee packages. Semi-disabled bathroom, bars by shower and toilet.

Breakfast and Dining

Breakfast is included in the rates and is served daily. Hawklee Country House offers diners hearty country cuisine, prepared and cooked in an authentic farmhouse kitchen. Our dinners are priced per person and we offer a 3 course meal with a choice on the menu plus coffee or tea while you relax in front of our lovely fire in the lounge on the cooler evenings. Country teas served on the terrace are a specialty and guests can order a picnic basket lunch to enjoy on the riverbank or while exploring the attractions of the surrounding countryside.
