Heartwood Homestead is a highly recommended property for self catering in Gonubie for up to 3 guests visiting the Amatola region.
Heartwood Homestead offers Gonubie self catering on a small working farm a mere 15min from Retail Park in East London. This beautiful timber-frame, zinc clad home, was completed in 2019 and was based on the "Tiny House" principal of less is more. Nestled on the edge of the forest, the accommodation overlooks the Gonubie River Valley.
Heartwood Homestead is a comfortable space which is completely off-grid, boasting our awesome dry compost toilet system (which is very different to a long drop), solar electricity, rain water harvesting and grey water management. Many of the furnishings utilized reclaimed timber, the Yellow wood and Oregon close to 100 years old.
The house has a mezzanine floor with a double bed and there is a single sleeper couch in the living room. The bathroom is equipped with a shower.
The kitchen is equipped with a hob and a fridge. There is no oven. The comfortable living area leads onto a balcony with magnificent views. The braai / fire pit has a great sunset view over the valley and former neighbouring reserve.
