About Hornbill Private Lodge
Hornbill Private Lodge is a comfortable home offering holiday accommodation in Bela Bela. This discrete family orientated, eight bed game lodge is situated within the 12,500 hectare Big 5 Mabalingwe Nature Reserve. Guests at the lodge have full access to all the facilities on offer at Mabalingwe.
Self Catering Accommodation
Hornbill Private Lodge is a self catering holiday villa in Bela Bela sleeping eight people in three bedrooms.
The main bedroom, which is upstairs, is furnished with a double bed and has an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, toilet and basin. In addition there is a dressing room and private deck.
The second and third bedrooms are downstairs; the second bedroom is furnished with two three-quarter size beds and has an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, toilet and basin. This bedroom opens onto the garden. The third bedroom sleeps four guests in single beds. It makes use of a separate shower, toilet and basin.
The house has a fully equipped kitchen with a separate pantry as well as an open plan lounge and dining room. DStv is provided in the lounge. Three outside lapas serve as a bush pub, breakfast lapa and outdoor kitchen-dining room. There is also a swimming pool for guests to cool off in during the hot summer months.

The Lodge is situated within walking distance from the Mabalingwe Caravan Park which boasts hot and cold swimming pools, tennis courts, putt-putt, horse riding, the famous R&R bar, shop and liquor store and children's playground.

Staying at Hornbill lodge is not merely a stay, it is an experience. It is beautifully located within Mabalingwe and the various animals that surround the lodge and come to visit certainly agree. This includes the elephants. The lodge is extremely well equipped with everything you need - the gas stove and kettle came in very handy during loadshedding and the emergency lights in the house as well as the magnito lights provided make evening loadshedding much easier. No need for guests to worry about these little things. The booking includes free game drives with Thabang - a most pleasant man - who goes out of his way to look for and spot animals. This is a highlight of every day. Jaco is a fantastic host and communicates with guests regularly to ensure loadshedding schedules are communicated in advance and that game drives are organized as per the time requests of guests, amongst other things. We will definitely go to Hornbill Lodge again - it is the best way to experience Mabalingwe and the Bushbeld for that matter.
