About Inyati Private Game Reserve

Inyati is set in 65 000 hectares of unspoilt bushveld within the Sabi Sand Reserve, adjacent to the world-renowned Kruger National Park. The lodge is situated on the banks of the Sand River allowing for fantastic game viewing from the lodge. Diversity of species and relaxed big game allows for close-up game viewing and photography.

With no boundary fences between the Sabi Sand and the Kruger National Park, this Reserve benefits from the great diversity of wildlife found in one of the richest wilderness areas on the African continent along with the additional benefits experienced on a private game reserve.

ACCOMMODATION

Inyati offers accommodation in Sabi Sand in eleven chalets with views of the Sand River and bushveld. All chalets have 24-hour temperature control - air-conditioning and overhead fans. Bathroom amenities, insect repellent and hairdryers, Direct dial telephones, Mini-bar fridge (stocked on request), tea and coffee making facilities, Mini-safe and complimentary WiFi.

FACILITIES & ACTIVITIES

Inyati's superbly positioned guest sitting and dining areas overlook the Sand River. The verandah and dining area that overlooks the riverine vegetation, natural habitat for elephant and hippo, Warthog hollow bar, library, filtered swimming-pool, air-conditioned gym and walk-in wine cellar. Our traditional Shangaan boma is used on alternate nights, and is a truly memorable way to experience a safari evening under the African night sky. Fine cuisine and wines can be sampled while sitting near a warm crackling fire.

GAME DRIVES

View Africa's most impressive wildlife on morning and afternoon/ evening game drives in open 4-wheel drive safari vehicles with expert guides and Shangaan trackers. Guests can also enjoy interpretive guided bush walks with excellent bird watching. Game drives traverse an area of 10 000 hectares and strict vehicle limits at sightings ensure the exclusivity of your game viewing experience. Off-road driving ensures that you have the best possible view of any exceptional sighting and rangers are constantly in touch with each other to keep track of animal movements

Kids on Safari

Parents travelling with young kids can book them on our fun and educational Young Rangers Programme. Children will be taught how to use their full range of senses to fully appreciate the wonder of nature. At the end of their stay, children will be issued with an Inyati Young Rangers certificate and will have learnt some of the following: How to do tricky bird calls and how plants use offensive smells to deter unwanted predators, how to track and identify spoor, using the night sky to find your way home, etc.

CHARACTERISTIC SPECIES

Leopard, lion, elephant, buffalo, white rhino, cheetah, hyena, giraffe, zebra, waterbuck, hippo, wildebeest, kudu and many other mammal and bird species occur. Inyati means buffalo in Zulu, which is one of the languages of the local people, and Inyati is home to this powerful, indomitable breed.

ACCESS

A five hour drive from Johannesburg to the Newington Gate of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. Bateleur Air Charter charter operates daily flights from OR Tambo to Ulusaba airstrip followed by an easy game drive to the lodge. Federal Air operates daily flights from OR Tambo to Skukuza and Ulusaba airstrip. SA Airlink offers daily flights from OR Tambo to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, followed by either a road or an air transfer to the lodge.

Gates open at 05h00 / 06h00 & close at 22h00 / 23h00. Please note that times are subject to change. The Sabi Sand Reserve is a protected reserve and therefore access is restricted - hence the gate opening and closing times.
