Karoo Ridge River Lodge is a highly recommended property for self catering in Middelburg for up to 8 guests visiting the Karoo Heartland region.
Karoo Ridge Lodge is situated on Karoo Ridge Conservancy, 100km from Colesberg in the Northern Cape and 55km from Middelburg, Eastern Cape.
Karoo Ridge Lodge is set in a tranquil valley with exquisite scenery and is the perfect place to relax. It is a good stop over if travelling from Johannesburg to the coast or if you wish to break a trip between Johannesburg and Cape Town. For those who enjoy the silence and peace of the Karoo it is a place where you can put your feet up, away from the mad rush of everyday life.
The lodge is built as a home and is made up of four bedrooms leading onto an open plan sitting / dining and kitchen area. All bedrooms have two ¾ beds so a maximum of eight guests can be accommodated.
Two of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and the other two have a shared bathroom. All bathrooms have bath and shower facilities.
The kitchen is well equipped. The oven / stove and fridge run off gas. The big veranda is perfect for outside living with braai facilities and outside dining area. The lights all run off solar energy. The majority of building material used to build the lodge is recycled along with the furniture which is home made from salvaged woods.
Set on a working farm with the priority being sustainable utilisation of natural resources, indigenous cattle herds roam the camps alongside wildlife species such as mountain reedbuck, springbuck, kudu, duiker, steenbuck, red hartebeest, Burchell's zebra and gemsbuck.
Birding, mountain biking, walking and hiking are some of the things you can do here. We welcome guest interest and participation in the daily running of the farm.
