Lowestoffe Country Lodge is set against the backdrop of the magnificent Elandsberg Mountains with expansive grasslands, rocky ridges and a gently meandering river. This pristine setting, in the amphitheatre of the Hogsback area, offers the ideal opportunity for family holidays and weekend getaways.

Rockford Lodge is situated on Rockford Farm which was acquired in July 2002 and is about 14km from Hogsback. The setting is magnificent with a poplar forest on the one side and beautiful views directly in front of the house looking towards the Klipplaat River. The opportunity to explore this river frontage beckons, whether to have a picnic or to find a deep, silent pool from which to cast a line for yellow fish.

Hogsback Self Catering

Rockford Lodge has four bedrooms (one double and three twin rooms), one of the bedrooms is a walk through room. There is the added luxury of a duck down duvet and an electric blanket on each bed for chilly winter nights.

There is a large open plan living area which is effectively heated by a free-standing fireplace as well as a fully equipped kitchen (microwave, stove, fridge / freezer). There are two bathrooms, one with a shower and the other a bath.

The gardens around the houses have large lawns and the views are all spectacular. Rockford Lodge is serviced daily. Wood is provided for the fireplace and there is a Weber for braaing but please bring your own brickettes.

Activities

The vast open spaces and diverse topography lends itself to outdoor activities, and among the many we specialize in fly fishing, horse trail rides, mountain biking and hiking. The picturesque Klipplaat River traverses the farm for 18 km providing numerous scenic spots to enjoy a picnic or deep water pools from which to cast a line for Yellow fish. There are also a number of fully stocked trout dams.

This is a wonderful opportunity for children to experience farm life. Sheep shearing takes place in September or October and guests are welcome to try their hand at grading the wool! During lambing season (October and November) it is a delight to relax on the Rockford veranda while the newborns frolic in the nearby pasture.
