About Walnut Lodge at Lowestoffe

Lowestoffe Country Lodge provides an opportunity for children to experience farm life. Sheep shearing takes place in September and October and guests are welcome to try their hand at grading the wool!

The lodge is situated on the Elandsberg Lodge Farm about 15km outside the village of Hogsback. It is a charming, old farmhouse built in the early 1900s and nestled at the base of the Elandsberg Mountain with breathtaking views in all directions.

Self Catering Accommodation

Mountain Lodge has four bedrooms sleeping eight (two double and two twin rooms), a large living room as well as a separate dining room. The wide passage, wooden floors, spacious rooms and huge main bedroom epitomize old style farm living at its best.

All of these rooms have built in fireplaces which are essential to warm the house on chilly nights. As the nights can be rather chilly, especially in autumn and winter, there is the added luxury of a duck down duvet and an electric blanket on each bed.

There is a spacious, well equipped kitchen (microwave, stove and fridge / freezer) and two bathrooms (main en-suite) with both a bath and shower available.

The garden around the house has a large lawn and the views are spectacular. The house is serviced daily. Wood is provided and there is a braai area.

Activities

The vast open spaces and diverse topography lends itself to outdoor activities. We specialize in fly fishing (Trout, Bass and Yellow fish), horse trail rides, mountain biking and hiking.

The picturesque Klipplaat River traverses the farm for 18 km providing numerous scenic spots to enjoy a picnic or deep water pools from which to cast a line for Yellow fish. There are also a number of fully stocked trout dams.
