About Makakatana Bay Lodge
Makakatana Bay Lodge is a family owned and run lodge offering St Lucia accommodation on the western shores of Lake St Lucia, within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in KwaZulu-Natal.
This protected natural wonder gem boasts Africa's largest estuarine system Lake St Lucia - that more than 1000 hippo and 1200 crocodile call home, as well as our treasured soaring coastal dune forests sheltering pristine beaches.
The Park is brimming with vibrant birds and wildlife, including rhino, buffalo, lion, elephant, hyena, cheetah and leopard.

Accommodation
Makakatana Bay Lodge has eight accommodation options to choose from. All rooms have air conditioning, Fans, Mini-bar and coffee, USB charge points, hairdryer and safe. All rooms have an additional bath and shower outdoors except for the Honeymoon Suite.
Please Note
Our cell phone signal is limited. We do have Wi-Fi available in the main building and in some room areas, however, it does not have the capacity for major streaming due to our location.
Breakfast and Dining
All meals are included in the full board rates. Dining spaces include dining room in the lodge, private bush pool on the lakes edge, peaceful outdoor dining deck, boma for bush dinners. Intimate private dining can also be arranged.
Activities
Activities include Wetland Safari Drive, Lake Cruise, Beach Safari, Game Safari and sunset game drive. Additional activities can be arranged at an extra cost and these include Whale and Dolphin Experience, Horse Riding, Deep Sea Fishing and Dumazulu Cultural shows.
