Nestled on 22 000 hectares of conservancy, Makalali prevails as one of the finest private game lodges in the world. The exclusive camps, each consisting of six spacious suites adjacent to a stilted Sala set amongst Jackalberry trees, are equipped with all the modern conveniences you could wish for. Amenities on offer at each camp include a uniquely designed swimming pool, boma, air-conditioning, and an enclosed dining and lounge area.

ACCOMMODATION

Makalali Main Lodge boasts comfortable Superior Rooms, each with their own en-suite bathroom with an indoor- and outdoor shower.

All the camps in the lodge are private yet within easy access of one another, featuring a plunge pool, boma plus enclosed dining and lounge area.

DINING

Dining at Makalali is a culinary adventure. The cuisine is a combination of regional African cuisine which represents a melting pot of cooking styles left behind by centuries of exploration on this great continent.

Dining is casual and relaxed and at Makalali, our chefs provide an array of dining experiences, from dinner in the bush or the legendary ‘boma dinner' under the stars. Other options include the indoor-outdoor dining area where you can enjoy a plated dinner or a more casual family style dining with other guests.

We understand that children enjoy lighter, smaller meals and we have therefore catered to their specific needs.

NOTE - MALARIA PRECAUTIONS

Makalali is situated in a Malaria area and precautions are essential. The nearest hospital is situated in Hoedspruit (45 min) and emergency evacuation by air will be arranged if necessary.

EXPERIENCE

You could encounter the “Big Five” and an abundance of wildlife and birdlife on your game drive. Game drives are in open landrover's and are conducted twice daily. An experienced tracker will impart his knowledge of the bush, game and birdlife to enhance your game drive. Coffee and rusks are provided on the morning game drives and guest can enjoy sundowners on the evening game drives.

Makalali has a no under 6-years policy on game drives. Baby sitting facilities and Sole Use Vehicle hire are available to enable parents to go on drives with the knowledge that their young children are well looked after.
