About Makalali River Lodge

Makalali River Lodge is situated on the banks of the Makhutswi River. This 5 star lodge consists of three camps that have six luxury suites each.

You won't find another lodge quite like Makalali. From its curious mix of rugged thatched spires and earthy walls, to its ancient mystical ornaments and luxury appointments, Makalali Private Game Lodge in Hoedspruit, Limpopo, offers a truly unique experience.

Accommodation

The River lodge has thatched suites and family suites with a raised timber viewing deck. All suites have an en-suite bathroom which includes an indoor and outdoor shower, bath and fireplace.

All the camps are private yet within easy access of one another, featuring a plunge pool, boma plus enclosed dining and lounge area.

NOTE - MALARIA PRECAUTIONS

Makalali is situated in a Malaria area and precautions are essential. The nearest hospital is situated in Hoedspruit (45 min) and emergency evacuation by air will be arranged if necessary.

DINING

Dining at Makalali is a culinary adventure. The cuisine is a combination of regional African cuisine which represents a melting pot of cooking styles left behind by centuries of exploration on this great continent.

Dining is casual and relaxed and at Makalali, our chefs provide an array of dining experiences, from dinner in the bush or the legendary 'boma dinner' under the stars. Other options include the indoor-outdoor dining area where you can enjoy a plated dinner or a more casual family style dining with other guests.

We understand that children enjoy lighter, smaller meals and we have therefore catered to their specific needs.

EXPERIENCE

You could encounter the "Big Five" and an abundance of wildlife and birdlife on your game drive. Game drives are in open landrovers and are conducted twice daily. An experienced tracker will impart his knowledge of the bush, game and birdlife to enhance your game drive. Coffee and rusks are provided on the morning game drives and guest can enjoy sundowners on the evening game drives.

Makalali has a no under 6-years policy on game drives. Babysitting facilities and Sole Use Vehicle hire are available to enable parents to go on drives with the knowledge that their young children are well looked after.
