The Mhondoro Villa is a luxurious yet comfortable home-away-from-home, perfectly suited as exclusive family or group accommodation in Welgevonden. In an under three-hour drive or a one-hour flight from Johannesburg, you can escape into this ideal safari destination to experience the magic of the Big 5 at home here in the African bush.

Accommodation

The Mhondoro Villa boasts a magnificent master suite and two additional bedrooms, all furnished with a King-size bed and an en-suite bathroom fitted with a bath, shower, toilet and basin. The rooms have air-conditioning and there is a hairdryer and walk in closet available.

The lounge has a gas fireplace and outside there is a deck with a daybed, heated pool and a view of the waterhole.

The exclusivity of the Mhondoro Villa means that all meals and selected local drinks are included, and it comes with its own private pool, a private gym, spa and yoga room, as well as a private game viewing vehicle with ranger, a private chef, a private butler and housekeeping staff.

Dining

The meals at Mhondoro Lodge are a culinary experience and famous throughout the region. We serve a full and delicious breakfast, afternoon teas and three-course dinners true African style. Mhondoro offers a wide choice of wines, some from excellent local vineyards.

On Site Facilities

If during your stay at Mhondoro, you just want to retire quietly to enjoy everything around you, you can do that in our separate TV lounge with its special seating area. In our TV lounge you can retire with a good book from our library, while gazing out at the watering hole. You can watch TV and enjoy zapping through the various South African television stations. At our lounge, children are not forgotten, they will enjoy the special kids corner.

Our 3 x 5 metre swimming pool is on the main veranda, where you can cool down on a hot summer day. In our therapy room or spa you can indulge in a massage or choose from a whole range of treatments. Fitness enthusiasts will love our wellness and gym area. Other services include; souvenir and novelty shop, laundry, babysitting (per hour) and massages.

Experience

Game drives take place in the early morning, before breakfast, or in the late afternoon after tea. During the morning game drives your ranger will choose a pleasant spot for a refreshing cup of coffee or tea and pre-breakfast nibbles. On the afternoon or evening game drives, you can toast the magical bush sunsets with a
sundowner accompanied by snacks.

Our rangers will take you on adventures in their 4×4 game viewing vehicles, giving you the perfect opportunity to spot the Big 5 – lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino – or at other times, to track the Little 5 – elephant shrew, leopard tortoise, rhinoceros beetle, buffalo weaver and ant lion.

You may also encounter giraffe, kudu, warthog or large herds of zebra and antelope along the way, to name just a few of the many species found around the lodge.
