About Middelfontein Farm

Situated 1.3 km outside Sutherland is the Middelfontein Farm which offers three accommodation types: Fontein on the Farm, Fonteintjie on the Farm and Saffraan.

Accommodation

Fontein House:
This is ideal accommodation for a family to experience a farm atmosphere. The large farm house has two bedrooms; one is furnished with two double beds and the other with a double and single beds. The bathroom has both a bath and shower. The living room is equipped with a TV for selective DStv viewing and the Sun Room is perfect for evening drinks!

The kitchen has all the necessary self catering facilities including an indoor braai, stove, fridge, and microwave.

Fonteintjie House:
This smaller, open plan cottage is just 100m away from Fontein on the Farm and can be booked together with that house. An intercom system makes communication between the two houses easy!

The cottage sleeps four and is furnished with a double and two single beds. The living room has a TV with selected DStv channels. Self catering is taken care of in the equipped kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave) and there are braai facilities on the sheltered stoep area.

Saffraan House:
Saffraan is a stone, open plan cottage. The cottage does not have electricity and is very private and intimate. Sleeping two, the cottage has a double bed, large fireplace and gas cooker and fridge. The cottage is equipped for self catering and there are braai facilities on the sheltered stoep.

Breakfast

Breakfast is served at the main house Kambrokind in town from 08h00 to 10h00.

Activities

Walking trails which range from 3km to 15km can be enjoyed (plants are numbered and listed on these trails). For photographers, this spot is fabulous for practicing astro-photography. On nights when there is no moon, the Milky Way and Megallan clouds look as though you can touch them.

Our stay at Middelfontein in the Saffraan cottage was a pleasant experience, and we enjoyed it very much. If you like to relax, explore nature and enjoy the peaceful tranquility, then this is for you. There is Vodacom cell phone coverage, although in future a solar panel for cell phone charging will be appreciated. Bring enough fire wood , you will need it during those cold winter evenings. The cottage is situated close to town, should you need something. We highly recommend it.
