Moontide Guest Lodge is a 4 star graded B&B offering Wilderness accommodation in 9 guest rooms.
Set amidst 400-year-old milkwood trees and a profusion of birds and plants, Moontide is the most romantic of retreats. Located on the shores of the Wilderness lagoon, with gardens that flow into its tidal waters, the lodge is a birdwatcher's paradise.
Moontide is situated at the end of a very quiet cul-de-sac, right on the water's edge and overlooks the Wilderness Lagoon and two minute walk to the beach.
Spend the day exploring the forests and waterfalls of Wilderness National park, or sightseeing the quaint towns of Knysna or Oudtshoorn, but make sure you set aside enough time to unwind in your Moontide hideaway. Take your sundowner to the flowing deck and enjoy the tranquility of the lagoon. What could be more romantic!
The seven en-suite cottages and rooms, each with their own entrance and outdoor seating area, are designed to provide you with those real 21st century luxuries, space and privacy. All rooms are under thatch (except The Boathouse and Treetops, Moonshadow 1 and 2), with a view of the lagoon and have separate entrances.
All rooms are fitted with Satellite TV, Bar fridges and tea/coffee facilities. A separate lounge (with TV) and dining room is available for guests, as well as decks and patios with tables and deck chairs, on the water's edge overlooking the lagoon with its rich bird life. See individual reeom descriptions and photographs below (or under Rooms & Rates).
Start the day with a great breakfast, served on the terrace overlooking the lagoon. An English and buffet breakfast is served under the 400 year old Milkwood trees in our luxuriant garden.
Help yourself to a buffet table of cereals, yoghurt, cheese, breads, juice and milk. The on-duty manager will then offer you a choice of hot breakfast options, served with a bottomless pot of excellent filter coffee, or breakfast or Rooibos tea.
Located within the sprawling and beautiful Wilderness National Park, the small residential village is the ideal location from which to explore the gems of the Garden Route and Klein Karoo.
Not only is this little village by far the most tranquil of the Garden Route options, but you are within easy striking distance of all the areas: the plethora of sights you'll find at bustling Knysna lie within a 25-minute radius; Plettenberg Bay, playground of the rich and famous, a further 20 minutes, while Oudtshoorn and the jaw-dropping Swartberg Pass lies 60 minutes away.
Moontide itself is also well located within Wilderness - at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, it is the only lodge right on the lagoon, yet the beach is a four minute stroll from here, while the charming Milkwood Village, with its craft shops, informal eateries and health spa is a 10 minute walk (or three minute drive) away.

The Boathouse is located right on the river bank – a simple semi-permanent structure that provides a real sense of being part of the tidal moods of the lagoon, with uninterrupted views of the twinkling waters and our regular visitors - kingfishers, herons, yellow-billed ducks and, for the really lucky, the occasional otter! The lounge area overlooks the lagoon - you are literally eye level with the aquatic creatures that frequent our little bay, and yet the view is perfectly private. The Boathouse is also the only room with a wood burning fireplace - for that added touch of romance. The Boathouse has a lovely bathroom with an open shower and Victorian-style bath tub.

Tim and his attentive staff looked after us like we were royalty. We stayed in the Boathouse, which was absolutely wonderful with the early morning still of the lagoon before us. We both look forward to coming back, really soon.

We stood only 2 nights in the boat house the first weekend in march, but it was worth the trip from cape town to Wilderness. Besides the wondeful location directly at the water I would like to point out the friendliness and hospitality of Maureen. You can really feel that she runs the Moontide Lodge with her heart. She gave us a look at the other rooms of the lodge and furnishings and equipment proof her engagement. Also the staff is very friendly. If you are lucky and have breakfast on a sunday morning, maybe you have a chance to get one of the fantastic little muffins:-) There is a young man who does them perfectly. I will return!
